St Pats Run

Before the event I sent out the following Email

This is the first race of many that I am working towards the Olympic Distance Triathlon that I want to do. This past Monday my Learn to Run Club timed us on a 5Km Run and I came in first at 27:09. I think a goal of completing this in 26 mins isn't to far out there but we shall see :)

For people in the Calgary area if your around the UofC at 10:00am come on down and have a good giggle at us. The start area is by the paperclip sculpture (I am guessing that is what the sculpture looks like???) outside the Speed skating Oval. If you get a good picture can you get me a copy :) Please !?

I'll update you all how I did on Sunday or Monday.

Cheers

Randy

After the Event I sent out this Email out:

Hi all!!! I am so Happy, I didn't trip!! (a lady in my class got knocked down by a stroller in the first KM, she wasn't happy at all that she lost some skin on) At least I bet the Cops Mike told me that they HAVE to do a 5K in 25 min to pass their requirements. Looks like that group has some explaining to do ....

Thanks to Wanda, Rob, and my Mom, for coming out and watching. Mike was telling me it must be nice to have a cheering section, his family thought it was too cold and didn't come.

There was mystery lady that called out my name, I think (hope) I turned and smiled incase there was a camera, on the final stretch but I just wanted to finish. I feel bad that someone knew me but I didn't recognize them in the crowd. I found out a month later it was a classmate that was too sick to run that day.

The timer that I got to run under was set for the 10K race that started before us so I was very very disappointed and confused as to why it took me 31:27 to complete the course.

If this is what they call a runner’s high... then call me a bloody addict!!!

Cheers and thanks for reading this and all your support!!!

Randy
