Mens Road Race

Day 4 I slept like you wouldn’t believe the previous night. The whole house slept late and we were behind schedule. We missed the first 3 laps of the men’s race, but I learned you could only move as fast as your slowest member. When that member has 1-foot long legs and doesn’t understand why everyone is walking fast. I hung out with the group for about 2 laps and then it was almost 11 and they guys were looking for a pub. I hung out on the corner #1 for a few laps and saw Victor Pena (in yellow to the right) go out in a lead group. I saw one lap from my set in the stands and one more talking to a volunteer down at ground level on the finishing straight. I wandered back up to James Mtn Road for a while. Then I found out that my pass would get me into all the stadium areas so off to Claremont I went!

This is the place to watch the race!! They had a Jumbotron and loudspeakers. You can watch them fly down the hill and a few movements later drag themselves up the hill. I couldn’t quite see the area where it was the steepest but I saw more than enough to make me a very happy person.

I walked up the hill towards the College to see a feed area in action but they had already gotten their food. Watched the area for one or two laps trying to find the shuttle to get me downtown. Again I found myself at the bottom of James Mtn road but this time it was to meet up with the group so I could get a ride back to the house.

I can’t quite describe all the events that happened this day but the photos and all the info off the net can fill in what happened in the race. All I know a portable TV would have helped because when your standing on the side of the road all you can see is where the pack is by all the helicopters in the air.
